Top 10 Quarterback's
Top Quarterbacks |
#1 Philip Rivers- Before you stop reading and think I am crazy to put Philip Rivers as the number 1 Quarterback let me make 2 valid arguments. First, Philip Rivers has had 3 consecutive seasons with over 4,000 total yards and last year with 4,710 (check this stat) he had the most in the entire league. Second, Philip had no one to throw to with Vincent Jackson his number 1 wide receiver holding out all year, Antonio Gates injured and not playing in every game, Malcom Flyod and 3rd WR Legedu Naanee also had severe injuries as well.
Now you tell me what QB in the NFL can throw for the most yards and have 30 touch down passes with 3 starting wide receivers out, and your number 1 tight end out? The Chargers transitioned to an explosive pass first offense which means Rivers will be making a majority of the plays this season.
#2 Aaron Rodgers- With his shiny new Super Bowl ring and entering his prime years Aaron Rodgers is going to be a fantasy point gold mine. The Packers play pass first offense with the running back situation in a bind. Aaron Rodgers had 28 touchdowns last season and 3,922 total yards. With Greg Jennings and Donald Driver still in Green Bay the Packers will be looking for easy touch down passes.
#3 Tom Brady- The NFL's MVP last year had over 3,900 yards and 36 touchdowns last season even without the help of Randy Moss. Tom Brady and the Patriots always seem to win and have already started the preseason by completely obliterating their opponent. If Tom Brady and Chad Ocho Cinco find a flow for each other then the AFC is in some serious trouble.
#4 Michael Vick- Vick had a roaring comeback into the NFL last season with probably one of the best QB single game performance in the history of the NFL. On a Monday night Football game for all of America to see Michael Vick scored 4 touchdowns threw for 333 yards and ran for 80 yards (2 of them TD's). With the Eagles stacking their team with free agents such as Nnamdi Asomugha and Steve Smith you can bet that the Eagles are a Super Bowl favorite this year. Don't forget about Desean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin's dangerous speed either. From the way I see it Vick can easily score the most fantasy points this year.
#5 Peyton Manning- Every season Peyton seems to be in the top 5 QB's in the league. The reason I have him down at number 5 is because he is getting a little older every year and even though Bret Favre lasted to 41, not every Quarterback can do the same. If you like to play it safe however you can count on Manning to not miss a game and definitely be in the top 5.
#6 Drew Brees- Is the Who dey era over or is it just getting started? Drew Brees and the Saints kind of feel off last season and didn't produce the great results they had the year before. This does happen when you’re the returning Super Bowl champs because everyone wants to knock you out early. However with the running game a bit lacking you can count on the Saints to put the ball in Drew Brees' hands a majority of the season.
#7 Matt Ryan- I think this can be the breakout year for Matt Ryan. With RB Michael Turner coming off an injury and starting to run out of gas the Falcons are likely to go Pass heavy. Roddy White has emerged as a star wide receiver and is expecting to put up big numbers as well as the number 1 draft pick Julio Jones. If you didn't go with an early QB pick in the draft you might want to lock in Matt Ryan.
#8 Ben Roethlisberger- Now that Big Ben has learned his lesson (hopefully) he can start focusing on football. Even with his 6 games missed last year Ben made a decent fantasy option and made it all the way to the Super Bowl. As long as Mike Wallace and Hines Ward are on the field Ben Roethlisberger should be a solid draft pick.
#9 Matt Schaub- I am a bit skeptical of placing Schaub on this list because of how good RB Arian Foster is. There was no stopping the production of Arian Foster last season which means no need for Matt Schaub to do anything. Although if Arian Foster gets injured and can't play you can expect Schaubs fantasy value to go through the roof with arguably the best wide receiver in the league Andre Johnson at his disposal.
#10 Kevin Kolb- Even though Kevin Kolb has found a new home in Arizona he has the potential of having a fantasy relevant year. Kevin Kolb was a tough choice for the Eagles to let go because he was the starter for the team until Vick decided that he wanted to become one of the most dangerous QB's in the NFL. With Larry Fitzgerald's great catching ability and Kevin Kolbs arm there is a good chance these too can put up a lot of points.
There you have it, the Top 10 Quarterback Projections for the 2011 season. I did your homework for you yet again, you can thank me later.

Top 10 Fantasy Football Defense Projections
Here is a list of the Top 10 Fantasy Football Defense Projections
I normally don't pick defenses until I have my starting RB's, WR's, QB, and TE lined up which means about round 5-6 is a decent time to pick up one of these top defenses in the league.
#1 Green Bay Packers- Clay Matthews and the returning Super Bowl champs are expected to be the top defense in the league again this season. With only allowing 234 total points against them as opposed to most teams allowing 400+ you can rely on Green Bay's Defense to bring the fantasy points at a high volume.
#2 Eagles- I'm sure you've already heard of the Eagles free agent pick up Nnamdi Asomugha, who is one of (if not the) best cornerback in the league. His profile has been kept somewhat under rated for two reasons; First he played for the raiders, and Second, only 27 passes were thrown his way last season. With this addition and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie the Eagles should be a solid defensive choice.
#3 Ravens- When do the Ravens not have an outstanding defense? I will tell you when, once Ray Lewis hits 65 that’s when the Ravens defense will be on the decline. Even with the loss of Landry the Ravens still have pro bowler Ed Reed and the all powerful Ray Lewis. If you had trouble last year with a defense than why not pick up a good D like the Ravens early?
#4 Steelers- The Steelers defense has been rock solid lately with James Harrison scaring QB's and Polamalu picking up the trash. The Steelers may be even hungrier for a Super Bowl ring this year because of the loss to Green Bay. Not to mention the Steelers defense had the most sacks in the league last season.
#5 Da Bears- Yet another team that you can always count on their defense. The bears made it to the NFC championship game last year with a make-shift offense only because of how hard it was to score against them. With Brian Urlacher and Julius Peppers on the team you can bet that there won't be too many defensive mistakes.
#6 New York Jets- The Jets (who I drafted last year) have a solid defense with cornerback's Darrell Revis and Antonio Cromartie in the backfield. They brought in a decent amount of fantasy points but not as much as I was expecting hence the number 6 spot.
#7 New EnglandPatriots- The Patriots always seem to be on top of their game offensively and defensively. I doubt this will be the year were the Patriots don't make it to the play offs. Especially with the offense accumulating a majority of ball time, you can count on the defense to stay fresh and not make to many mistakes. Did I mention that they also signed Albert Haynesworth during the off season?
#8 New Orleans Saints- Every year I notice that the Saint's defense gets better and better. With players Jonathan Vilma and Darren Sharper on the team why wouldn't they have a strong defense? One thing to note that the Saints defense does well is the amount of total points scored against them 271 last season. If you forgot to pick a defense early in the draft then look for the Saints D as an easy out.
#9 San Diego Chargers- With the great defensive coordinator Ron Rivera gone I am somewhat skeptical of the Chargers defense but they did acquire a few solid players in the off season. Bob Sanders and first round draft pick Corey Liuget are sure to add fantasy relevance to the Chargers defense this season. The only concern now is the special teams need a dramatic change from last year (When will Nate Kaeding go back to Kindergarten?).
#10 New York Giants- With 46 sacks and 23 fumble recoveries the New York Giants defense is going to add some fantasy value to your team. As long as Osi Umenyiora stays on the roster the Giants will be a decent draft pick.
There you have it, my Top 10 Fantasy Football Defense Projections for the 2011 Season. It will be interesting to see how well these defenses do over the season because we all know that a few key injuries can make a great team fall apart.
Let me know what you think about this list and any suggestions/arguments for another defense that should be on this list.

Top 10 Players You Won't Want to Miss
Top Fantasy Football Projections |
Here is my list and analysis of the top 10 players that are underrated and drafted late. Most of these players are fantasy point gold mines and easy picks if you draft them at the right times.
Darren McFadden– Even though I hate to admit it Run DMC is one of the top 5 RB's in the league. McFadden was scoring an average of at least 15-17 fantasy points for me last year and saved my team a couple times with games where he put up 35 points or more. I feel like the raiders number one option is going to be McFadden again this year which means as long as he stays healthy you can count on him being your #1 back. It is a little risky to grab him with your first pick but make sure to get him by round 2 if available.
Percy Harvin- This wide receiver is dynamic and can have huge fantasy point games. Not only can he score big on punt returns but the vikings are likely to throw more targets his way because of the Sidney Rice trade. Also Percy missed out on 2 games and practices last year due to migraines (which are supposedly a thing of the past) and still put up big numbers.
Philip Rivers- Not only did Rivers throw the most yards 4,710 last year in the entire league, (and 30 TD's). Not to mention he also did it with a beat up receiving squad were half of them signed in the middle of the season. Now that his old favorite Vincent Jackson is back this season and Antonio Gates still there, Philip is a first pick QB over Rodgers, Brady or anyone just wait and see.
Julio Jones– One thing about fantasy football that stays consistent is that, you never know about wide receivers (especially rookies). However Julio Jones has been receiving a high amount of buzz from scouts and early preseason targets. With Matt Ryan at the helm and already throwing Julio a lot of passes, he will most likely become a favorite for big plays. With the defense focusing on Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez this will leave Jones open for a break out year. I would say pick him up round 4-5 depending if you went strong RB's and are running out of WR options.
Chad Ocho Cinco- Yes he is in a new found home, away for the non fantasy relevant Bengals. Where Chad Ocho Cinco landed couldn't have been a safer haven for him. Remember the last time Moss got traded from the Raiders to Brady's squad? Yea top Wide Receiver in the league with 1,493 yards and 23 TD's. I'm expecting Ocho Cinco to produce similar results.
Peyton Hillis– Even though Peyton Hillis made it to the cursed cover of Madden this year, I still think he can post up some huge fantasy points before that injury occurs. With the Browns offensive line and his running back role expanding, the only way Peyton Hillis is not going to score points is when he can't make it out on the field. If your league is RB crazy than you might want to draft Hillis 1st or 2nd pick.
Visanthe Shiancoe– He is one of the top TE's in the league and with new Quarterback Donovan McNabb who loves to count on TE's in the red zone you can be sure that Shiancoe will be receiving a ton of touch down passes.
Mike Tolbert – I call him the lightning charged pin ball. Tolbert is essentially the size of a full back but comes equipped with lightning fast speed and sticky gloves. You can expect Tolbert to be San Diegos #1 RB this season until Ryan Mathews stops injuring himself. Philip Rivers brought a squad of about 6 NFL players to the practice field behind my college dorm room. A majority of those passes were thrown straight to Tolbert and let me tell you he is the fastest 240 pound RB you will ever see.
Tolbert is in blue, Philip in White |
Josh Freeman– With Tampa Bay having a lot of hype and something to prove this year Josh Freeman needs finish what he started last season. Josh Freeman had some decent fantasy stats last year, he threw for 3,451 yards and 25 touchdowns with only 6 interceptions. If you forgot to draft a top QB and are starting to worry about your team this year than don't panic because Freeman's got your back.
Larry Fitzgerald- I was a little disappointed with Fitzgerald's production last year but with Kurt Warner's absence who could blame him. I have faith in him again this season however with the addition of Kevin Kolb at the QB position. Fitzgerald's regular fantasy numbers should be back in action this season. If he is available by round 2-3 I would definitely pick him up.

Top 10 Players with Red Flags
These are the Top 10 overrated fantasy players that you should avoid.
Michael Turner– With Turner coming off an injury and hitting that daunting RB age of 29, I doubt he will be able to put up his usual numbers. Atlanta seems to have used up all the gas in Turners tank and is now focusing on Matt Ryans arm. I can see Turner having another studly year this year but that is a pretty big "If".
Steve Smith (Carolina)– When was the last time Steve Smith put up consistent numbers 2006? I for one am not going to risk taking Smith early in the draft with Rookie QB Newton fighting for the number one spot with Jimmy Clauson. That is one headache I would just avoid this year.
Ryan Grant- The running back who almost killed my team last year. Grant received an injury that took him out for the entire season last year and Green Bay went to the super bowl without him. With Aaron Rodgers trying to defend a Super Bowl title I don't expect Ryan Grant to be seeing much production this season.
Matt Schaub– Schaub is a decent Quarter back but with Arian Foster in the lineup stealing his thunder, I can confidently tell you not to pick him in the early rounds. Schaub has been drafted pretty quickly in mock drafts but you can count on picking a QB that will post similar fantasy points in later rounds.
Todd Heap- After his trade to the Cardinals his fantasy relevance was thought to increase from the lack of receiving targets while Fitzgerald takes off all the pressure. However after his preseason opener he didn't look in sync with Kolb and already had to downplay an injury. I see red flags all over this TE.
Joe Flacco– I see it every year, "This is Flaccos breakout year!". Even though I was impressed with his Youtube videos where he can break flying discs in the air with a football but that doesn't mean he can break QB records. Flacco seems to be the average QB always bringing up average numbers, so if you want Flactoid on your team than make sure you don't pick him before round 6-7.
Ryan Mathews– Don't get me wrong I like Mathews, but with him failing a conditioning test and being injury prone I see red flags all over this guy. Not to mention I was watching Tolbert practicing with Philip Rivers on the off season, not Mathews. You can definitely expect Mike Tolbert to be taking away fantasy value from Mathews this season.
Brandon Marshall– Brandon Marshall just isn't as lucky as Ocho Cinco, and ended up in a horrible situation. You can expect Brandon Marshall's fantasy value decrease as fast as the stock market.
Maurice Jones-Drew– Even though Mo Jo is going top 5th pick in fantasy mock drafts this year, I would gladly take the number 6th or 7th RB. Reason being is because Maurice Jones-Drew is coming off knee-surgery and may aggravate his injury again. Also the Jaguars back up RB Rashad Jennings looked pretty good last season which means they might ease him in on a few plays if not more.
Greg Jennings– Even with Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay having a Super Bowl Winning season last year Jennings finished behind the top 30 in Wide Receivers. This tells me that with coverage going to be focused on Aaron Rodgers receiving core this year don't expect Jennings to put up consistent numbers.

Fantasy Football Projections 2011
Well it's official the NFL 2011 lockout is over and that means gear up and time to start paying attention to Fantasy Football Projections again!
This is my first post on this blog and I would like to introduce myself, my name is Andrew and I have decided to create a blog about Fantasy Football not only because it is a great game to play and gives me a reason to analyze player stats, but it is also one of the fastest growing online game.
There are over 5 million searches a month for Fantasy Football and millions of fans that play.
I will be playing Fantasy Football for my fifth year now, and signed up for my regular 3 leagues. I have Won the champion ship game twice in a league with 14 players, and once in a league with 10. There has never been a year in any of my leagues that I haven't gone to the playoffs for every team either.
The reason WHY? I keep up with stats and Fantasy Football Projections throughout the whole season!
One thing that has helped me consistently win and will definitely help your team out too, is to come to the realization that No One has a perfect draft. Every year I see people that hold on to their favorite players that are not putting up stats because they're waiting for their "breakout" game. One prime example is Reggie Bush. He also gets drafted way to early usually by round 3 or 4 and doesn't put up big numbers. Get rid of him and pick up a 2nd string RB that will actually carry the ball.
Always keep up to date with the latest in football news, even just reading the headlines will give you that extra jump into picking up a star player. You may not always be the first one to pick up the highest quality free agents throughout the season but make sure to do at least 5-10 add/drops throughout the season.
Another tip is to pay attention to free agents late in the season as well. You may feel like you won't have to ever switch your star Wide Receiver that has been doing amazing all year during the end of the season but there are circumstances that call for it. For instance in the championship game last year I noticed that Hines Ward wasn't producing his normal solid points and QB/WR Joe Webb was putting up decent numbers. I picked up Joe Webb put Hines on the bench and guess what happened. Hines got more points than he usually puts up at 12 but Joe Webb got 16. The overall score of the game was 100.76 to my 101.74 (not even joking!).
I will be posting updates with possible sleepers, power house players, who to start, who not to draft, and more. Leave some comments, complaints, suggestions, whatever just be happy that the NFL 2011- 2012 season is here!
